A great weather night for racing. First off a big congratulations to everyone in the A group, tonight was as good as I have ever seen it for yellow line. I can honestly say I didn't see a single violation.
Now for the racing. It was a pretty fast night. The first attack was a solo move by Junior Provincial Champ Vince De Jong. He was brought back after about half a lap and then the longest break went with Charlie and Joe. They got a pretty sizeable gap and were looking good. After about 2.5 laps of chasing by a number of riders including Graydon, Tony, Brad, Carlos, Vince and some others we caught Joe but Charlie stayed out solo. Charlie put in a huge effort but eventually succumbed to the pressure of the bunch. Some more moves went off the front with Brandon Throop being aggressive as well as Julio, Graydon and some impressive young guns Connor Hammond, Colin, Vince and Steve Meyer. It was all back together with 2 to go in what looked like a bunch sprint. The fireworks however continued with Julio, Tony, Fred and another rider putting in a good attempt but they were caught with one to go. Last time up the hill was slow so Joe Torchia put in a good move to go solo. After the 4 way stop Forsdike put in his pattented late race bridge to go across solo. Westhaven was all across the front and the duo looked dangerous. At this point it was Junior Pursuit phenom De Jong went to the front and strung it out. Vince pulled for the last third of the back stretch with no signs of slowing down around the last two corners. I had Vince's wheel and it was a nice set up. With about 350 meters to go Vince started to slow a tiny bit just as we were catching Joe and Mike. I went for it so I wouldn't get swarmed. It was a long sprint and I heard the inevitable which was Graydon coming around me. Graydon won by over a bike length as I held on for second, Charlie was third, I am not sure of 4th and Julio nipped Tony for 5th.
My Eload Stars:
Charlie - Is he ever going to slow down?
Joe - Most active I have seen him all year.
Graydon - Strong all night and takes the win.
Vince - Strong and his leadout wins it for Graydon
Brandon - for only being 19 years old this kid has potential.
All other juniors in A group (Connor, Steve Meyer, Colin)
Julio - In some moves and strong bid for the win.
Forsdike - another impressive bridge
Tony - active all night.
