I picked up a pair of the new GP4000's back at the beginning of March, and have been using them regularly since (including training camp down south, tuesday night races, and usually 1 or 2 other times per week). First of all, I'll say that I'm really impressed by the tread wear so far. Seems to be lasting MUCH longer than the previous generation GP3000's. Maybe it's the new "vectran". However, I've noticed that the short protective thread weave on the outside of the tire, which is just above the bead (at the rim) and only about 3-4mm high, is starting to separate from the rubber. Doesn't look like anything to worry about yet, but it is obvious, and I wonder if anyone else has had the same problem?

Graydon There have been no problems that I have heard about, One person had their pad on the one side rub on the sidewall in that spot you are talking about and wore it a bit. Next time I see you Ill look at the spot you are talking about. Is it F and R or L or R ?????

Both wheels, both left and ride sides the same. I've never had a brake pad rub, so I'm fairly confident it is a premature aging thing. Haven't used them more than a couple times in the rain either. I'll show you next time I see you...
