I have been riding my new Scott Addict R2 for about 2 months now, so I thought I would write a little review.

Bike came equipped with the new Ultegra groupo. Compact Crank 50/34, Ritchey Bar and Stem, Scott saddle and Mavic Ksyrium wheels. I sold the wheels with my Cannondale to Greg even though they were a pretty nice set. Currently running Zipp 303 clinchers with a powertap. Looked at swapping the chainrings or cranks because of the compact, but after riding it and doing the math my 50x11 is slightly bigger than a 53x12, so still some decent sprinting gear. If I ever return to serios racing and bunch sprinting I might go back to 53/39, but for my current purposes the compact is fine and the 34 will be good for France.

Even though the Scott has Ultegra and my Cannondale had Dura Ace I would say it is still a bit lighter. I am very impressed with the Ultegra compononts, work at least as nice as my older Dura ace 10. The Scott is very stiff for sprinting and climbing out of the saddle. Handles and corners very well. The sprints I have done on it I have been very impressed with it.

The Ritchey Bar and stem are nice, but the bars are regular round bars and I was used to a flat bar, so I am getting and Easton EC70 bar to put on. Same bar I had on the Cannondale so I know I will like it. Thought about changing the seat to a Fizik, but I have gotten used to the Scott saddle and will likely stick with it at least for this season.

Overall very impressed with the bike. Thanks to Rob Anderson AKA Big Show for helping me get the bike.

You going to France with Ted for his ambitious Ride the Tour effort?

I've booked a family vacation for September but will only be riding a little (2 - 3 days) of which 1 will be a ride up Ventoux. Let me know if you come across some decent rental places near Ventoux - I'll be looking to rent a bike (compact or triple) rather than bring my own.

Yes I am going for the first 12-14 days of Ted's Tour expedition. For those that don't know, he is riding the entire Tour de France race route one day ahead of the actual tour. I will likely ride about 3-4 hrs per day and do all the support stuff like filling up coolers, bottles, handing up food etc.

I will keep an eye out for a bike rental, but I don't think we go up Ventoux this year, at least it isn't a finish.

I continue to be impressed by my Scott Addict R2.

It is crazy stiff, even more impressive when you consider how light the frame is.

It performed flawlessly in South Carolina up all the climbs and in the town sign sprints. It is very comfortable and handles very nicely.

Thanks again Big Show!!
