check out the results on the canadian cyclist news section. squires did another one for the books and it looks to me like Duncan is back to the form that saw him a regular podium finisher in ITTs, solo winner of Hamilton crit, etc a couple of years ago.

Thanks, Supa. Feels good to be back. That Charlie has got game! Impressive, easy looking win. Hats off to fantastic organizers too. Bigger and better for next year I hope. Smoking ride by Sam Bail. 19:44 blew the doors off everyone but a very, very select few.

Is this the same Duncan who raced in the mid-eighties with Elgar V. ... wearing all black? 'Sang froid' cycling team?
Sorry if I'm confusing you with someone else.

Nope. That wasn't me. I started my career at the back in 1988.

Apologies for the confusion.
These two guys (Duncan and Elgar) were distinct in that they wore completely black gear, their team name was cold blooded cycling and there was about 12" in height difference between them.

First of all, Squires is a mutant. Every once in a while I will trade blows with him in a break, beat him in a sprint or match him on a hill and I start to think maybe I'm closing the gap between us to something reasonable. Then he'll do something to set me straght, like the stupifying attack on the hill at High Park, leaving me, Kevin Davis and the other 11 survivors from a pack of 58 starters to watch helpless as he won solo. Or his ride at Niagara - the results show a dropped Charlie finishing 15th or something. What you didn't see unless you were one of 20 survivors out of 100 starters is that a break went away with almost all the top guns in it, including Kevin Davis and Greg Cavanaugh that Charlie didn't make because it was a counter to his move. 99 times out of 100, that break is GONE. But Charlie basically hauled them back almost single handedly - it was an awesome display of dogged power and grit. Then, when we caught them, he counter-attacked to go solo for I don't know how long before finally being caught and only THEN was he subdued. It was crazy.
Duncan Salisbury is way too modest. Many on this forum do not remember him because he was having a mediocre season when he smashed his collarbone in the chicane at KW in '04 and it's been a slow road back. I saw him win (I think he won) from a 7 man break at Fort Erie, he attacked solo and won the downtown Hamilton crit after being away for many laps and he's one of the top handful in ITTs. Watch that name later in the season.
Finally, I was also impressed with Sam Bail's ITT - look at the names that finished below him - Heath Cockburn, Michael Moore, Brandon Crichton, Kevin (Buck) Miller, Ed Makarchuk etc etc. wow.

Making me blush, but thanks for the kind words. That Fort Erie race was won solo by Russ Jones. He was very strong back in the day. Craig Doucet and I threw the bikes for 2nd, but he took it. What is it with taking a back seat to these Westhaven guys? :D
