This is my first time doing Elliot Lake and i can't seem to find much information about the schedule, course.....or anything at all about the race! I was wondering if any of you can give me info on the set up and if any of you are planning on making the oh so long trip up there.

Cheers,

Throoper

Providing I regain the fitness I lost after a prolonged vacation from the bike (was I the only one hurting that much last night???), I'm considering making the trip to Elliot Lake. Will be interested to share gas, rides, hotel with anyone going...

I was unsure about who on the team, if anyone would be coming to Elliot Lake so i already booked a room. It's got two beds in it so anyone wanting to share a room just drop me a message on the forum. i check it frequently.

Brandon,

I'll let you know Tuesday evening if I think I'll make the trip to Elliot Lake. It's a heck of a long way to drive with the summer traffic, so I'm still undecided. Whether I think I have my fitness back on Tuesday will also play a role in the decision.

Hey guys,

I'm the same as Graydon, considering it. It's more the time away. That being said I did it last year and it was super relaxing, almost like a holiday away. Graydon, let me know what you're thinking, come on, you're form is GREAT!!!!

Just in they have taken out the hill in the road race due to construction, go figure. The two gas stations up there are vital to movement and one is under construction. The other is on the freeken hill. They are not going to close the road in front of the only open motion potion station. So there is your push to get up there and enjoy a very good race where the non-climbers will not DNF. ;)

Jellybean, how did you get that info? Also, is the Prov. Hillclimb Championship still on? With the same course?

You can find a pdf file on the OCA website that links to the tech guide. The provincial hill climb is the same 3.5 km course as last year, or so i'm told. I'd also like to know where the info came from about the course change, Jellybean.

Thanks,

Throoper

Bah... 9 hours of driving ain't looking so hot anymore to go race a flat course. At least with the hill it might have been interesting. I'll still make my final decision after the race tonight, as I've been struggling to get back to form after holidays. My alternative is to head up to Orillia for a weekend of MTB training and some pre-rides of the hardwood course. Right now I'd say I'm leaning heavily towards the latter.

The Elliot Lake teck guide is being revised:

Jewel in the Wilderness Road Race Course Revision Aug.15.2006

This weekend's Jewel in the Wilderness will have a revision to its Road Race course. The road race will not include Hillside Drive but will feature a portion of the criterium course and Highway 108.

The technical guide will be revised shortly."
(from the OCA web main page)

I got this from the OCA web page today but I knew about it yesterday...tweet tweet!
