Browne Wins Again in Long Break.
A perfect weather night for racing. We did the first point to point race SW of the City starting at Carriage Road. The pace started fairly quick as Charlie was doing some TT work for the first couple kms. It stayed pretty quick with some attacks mostly by Craig Browne. Nothing stuck for the first bit then a 4 man group with Carlos, Mike, Graham Mcgee and myself were away for a little bit but were brought back. There was some good gutter action, but not super hard. Craig and Julio got away and built up a sizeable lead. They took a wrong turn, but the buch waited for them to turn around and let them re establish their lead. The chase was fairly steady but not super hard as it appeared Westhaven was fine with rolling through and letting the break stick. We had them fairly close with about 5km to go when Mike made and impressive solo bridge. The 3 dangled in front as some work was beind done by Kees, Brad and Graham. Coming into the final left turn they were well in sight but too far ahead to make the catch. Craig can fill in the gaps but the sprint for the win was taken by Brownie with Julio second and Mike 3rd. Meanwhile back in the bunch Charlie put in some kick ass attacks, I think 4 in a row to be exact. I was hanging on for dear life but managed to close the gaps. As the pace lulled Carlos put in a good attack for the 4th place. He dangled in front and managed to just hold on for 4th. There was some confusion on where the line was but I managed to take the sprint for 5th.
My Eload Stars:
Brownie - Super long break and takes the win.
Julio - Must have been very strong to power the break with Craig.
Forsdike - Impressive Solo bridge
Carlos - Perfectly timed attack for 4th.
Brad Nicol - Rode strong all night.
Graham McGee - Strong and not afraid to try.
